Conversation with Probate Judge Dana Y. Moore.
Dana Y. Moore was elected as a circuit judget to represent the 10th judicial circuit, Polk, Highlands, and Hardee Counties. Judge Moore is dedicated to fostering professionalishm among attorney's and is committed to integrity and funamental justice for all. Judge Moore earned her B.S. degree from Columbus State University and her J.D. degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School.
Prior to her election Judge Moore was a practicing attorney in the Tenth Judicial Circuit Court system. Over the course of her legal career she has advocated for children and families in the dependency system, assisted individuals in the process of determining the legitimacy of alleged impaired individuals to determine the need for court ordered drug and alcohol assessment and treatment, advised personal representatives and the beneficiaries on how to settle the final affairs of a deceased love ones.
Judge Moore is a servant of the community. Judge Moore has served on several boards and has been a member of many community organizations; Winter Haven Girls Inc., New Beginnings Charter School, Chain of Lakes Achievers, Inc., National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. Polk County Chapter, and Virgil Hawkins Bar Association just to name a few.
Judge Moore has been married for thirty-three years to Terrence C. Moore. Together they raised three boys to men Reginald Moore, Christopher Moore, and David Wilson. She is the very proud grandmother of Terrence Amare Moore, Carmelo Saint Moore, Sophia Rose Moore and Lilly Amina Wilson.
