DESCRIPTION:\nDiaster & Emergency Preparedness for the 21st Century:  New Tools, Techniques & Technologies\n \nPlease join us for the first meeting of the Estate Planning Council of Polk County for the 2018-2019 year. \n \nPlease RSVP as soon as possible.  As we are a little late getting the meeting notice out.\n \nIntroducing Brian Sparks:\n \nBRIAN C. SPARKS is a practicing lawyer and shareholder with the Tampa office of the Gunster law firm.  His legal practice primarily is devoted to estate and tax planning and asset and privacy protection planning and federal tax controversy matters.  He is Florida Bar Board Certified in both Tax Law and in Wills, Trusts and Estates Law and is a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.  Before law school, he practiced as a certified public accountant.\n \n \n \nFor many years, a significant portion of his community service was as a volunteer, instructor, and board member for local and regional chapters of the American Red Cross and the regional council of the Boy Scouts of America, where he concentrated on first aid, CPR, emergency preparedness, and wilderness survival.  Over the last decade, he has concentrated his community service on disaster and emergency preparedness education and disaster and emergency response.   He has taken and taught courses in those areas with the Wilderness Medicine Institute of the National Outdoor Leadership School, Federal Emergency Management Agency, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Columbia University National Center for Disaster Preparedness, American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, National Association for Search and Rescue, Tampa Fire Rescue, Greater Tampa Community Emergency Response Team, and Volunteer Florida. \n \n \n \nHe is a Wilderness Emergency Medical Technician, Wilderness First Responder, Search and Rescue Technician, Community Emergency Response Team member, and Medical Reserve Corps member.  He has participated in preparedness and response efforts involving a wide range of disasters and emergencies, including earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, floods, lightning, motor vehicle accidents, tornadoes, and urban and wilderness medical emergencies.\n \n \n
